WILLIAM SALYERS
Renowned Appalachian Graphic Artist
A direct descendant
of the Cherokee Indians, William Salyers was born in Lawrence
County, Kentucky. He has received many awards and honors from
the art world for his ink drawings depicting the Appalachian countryside.
William was accepted into the prestigious, Tri-State Art Association
- Huntington Museum of Art Show in 2004 where he received a purchase
award. William received his art education from the Washington
School of Art in New York. His art is in various collections all
over the Eastern United States. In addition, Salyers was invited
to exhibit at an international art show in Paris, France.
He is represented
by the Mountain Arts Center, the Van Leer Historical Society Art
Gallery and the Painted Cow Gallery. Additionally, Salyers and
his wife (Sally Salyers, oil painter) have been the featured artists
at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, KY. on numerous occasions.
Salyers is an avid
outdoorsman. He has spent much time in Shawnee State Forest. |
